Reception zoomed into Term 2 with their new unit “transportation”. Over the last three weeks, pupils have looked at a different modes of transport on the road, on/in water and in the air. They have compared transport from the past with the present and discussed how it has changed over time.
Earlier this week as a conclusion to the unit, the Porsche Kids Driving School (PKDS) visited Gulf British Academy to teach the children about car and road safety – a programme sponsored by the Porsche Centre of Kuwait. Pupils were reminded how to stay safe in the car and to always wear a seatbelt. They also learned the correct way to cross a road;
Stop, Look, and Listen before you cross the road.
During the visit, pupils had the opportunity to be real drivers by getting behind the wheel of small Porsche 911 pedal cars (complete with horn, engine sounds and handbrake). They tested their road safety knowledge by driving around a street circuit.
It was a very enjoyable event for all pupils and they were really happy with the souvenir hats and the driving licences that PKDS kindly distributed to them at the end of the session.
