Bus transport policy

Gulf British Academy aims to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pupils at all times. Listed below are the rules pupils must follow when using the transport service:

  • No eating or drinking (except water) allowed on the bus
  • Pupils must respect and listen to school personnel on the bus
  • Pupils must take responsibility for their own property and respect the property of others
  • Pupils must remain in their seats – hanging out of the windows is not allowed
  • Throwing objects in or out of the bus is not allowed
  • Verbal, visual and physical abuse on the bus will not be tolerated
  • Pupils need to be punctual in getting to the bus in the morning. The bus will only wait for 3 minutes before it leaves
  • Damage done to the bus will be charged accordingly to the parent of the pupil concerned

What happens if rules are broken?

We look forward to your support in ensuring that your child follows these rules. If the rules are broken, the following will apply:

FIRST INCIDENT – written warning issued and parents requested to sign and return a copy of the letter

SECOND INCIDENT – 5-day suspension from transport use. Parents requested to meet Head of School

THIRD INCIDENT – Parents will be informed and the pupil will be taken off the bus permanently

Important

Morning bus pick-up rules

When the bus arrives at your residence, it will wait for only 3 minutes for your child.  If your child is not on the bus within this time, it will depart without them. It is then your responsibility to bring your child to school.

Afternoon bus drop-off rules

When the bus arrives at your residence at the scheduled time, a parent/guardian should be waiting outside to greet the child.  If there is no-one present, the bus will wait for only 5 minutes.  After this time, the bus will depart with your child to finish the route and will then bring your child back to school. It is then your responsibility to pick up your child from school.

Other bus rules

  • There are no KG time buses for areas far away. KG pupils for far-away areas will join the 2:15 pm bus in the afternoon.
  • Please note that the bus service is only for the address given at the time of registration.  Changing address to another location will be considered as new registration and will only be accepted if there are buses already in that area and if seats are available. Kindly check with the school at least a week before you plan to move.
  • The bus assistant or the driver is not allowed to leave the bus. They are not permitted to drop the pupil off in the house or inside the school building.
  • Please do not give any gifts or money to the bus driver or the nannies.  All pupils on the bus are treated equally.
  • Parents are not allowed to ride the school bus or to correct other pupils on the bus. Any bus-related concerns should be communicated to the school.
