This week was school Fitness Week, which focused on the benefits of exercise and leading a healthy lifestyle.
Everyone got involved! Staff wore PE kits to school every day and all our pupils wore sports clothing on the final day of the week.
That’s not to say pupil activities only happened on the last day of the week – far from it. On the first day, the whole of KS1 followed by KS2 went to the hall for a presentation about nutrition and healthy eating delivered by Mr Julian from Wawan Nutrition.
This was followed up with in-class exercises guided with timed video workouts devised by Joe Wicks, otherwise known as The Body Coach.
In addition, the whole of Reception took to the hall for a big fitness session whereas Primary pupils created exercise diaries to record their progress (including their favourite and least favourite exercises) and learnt about healthy eating. Each Primary class then planned their own exercise video based on the exercises they’d done throughout the week, using their diaries to support their thinking.
Fitness Week even extended into break times and it was great to see on-duty staff perform exercises (jogging on the spot, jumping jacks, lunges etc) as well as praising and awarding house points to children for eating healthy food.
Thanks goes out to Mr Louis of 3 Yellow for arranging a truly fun and enjoyable week for both children and staff. We hope everyone will continue exercising regularly and eating healthily.
